Diminution

Smaller than a shut nut in its
      Candy can skin,
      The silken icecube melts,
The compact cricket swells to distant hymns,
5     And the tough grass suffers into seed.
      (It is a bantam birth.)
Many of the big things in this world
      Can be described as
      Small.
10    The delicate ballet of
      Mountains bowing low
      As bathtub waves between
      The popsickle peaks
      Is
15    One example,
      But there are many others.
      Many many; ask the brilliant
      Corn-kernel sun, and he
      Will tell you.
20    I myself will tell you and tell you
Until finally, balled like a baby,
      I diminish into happiness.
